Numerical Modeling of Venturi Flume

In order to measure flow rate in open channels, including irrigation hydraulic structures are used with a relatively high degree of reliance. Venturi flumes among the most common and efficient type, they can discharge using only water level at specific point within converging section an empirical relationship. There have been limited number attempts simulate venturi flume computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools improve accuracy readings formula. this study, simulations on different were carried out total seven models, standard k–ε, RNG realizable k–ω, k–ω SST models. Furthermore, large-eddy simulation (LES) detached eddy (DES) performed. Comparison simulated results physical test data shows that turbulence k–ε model provides accurate results, followed by dynamic k LES when compared experimental data. The overall margin error was around 2–3%, meaning be reliably estimate channel. cross-sections flume, lowest percentage error, i.e., 1.93%. This surface well calculated model, as profiles also follow same vertical curvilinear path
